About 10% of energy is lost as heat during charging. Our calculator uses a 90% efficiency factor, meaning you need to draw slightly more energy from the grid than what ends up in the battery.

For daily driving, charging to 80% maximises battery longevity. Charge to 100% only for long trips. Most EV manufacturers recommend keeping daily charge between 20% and 80%.
